For my performance i will be performing a duologue  called The Dumb Waiter by Harold Pinter which is about two hit-men that are getting ready to do a job. the two hit-men argue over little things nearly all the time. The main argument seems to take place over the quote 'light the kettle' It is set in a basement with two beds. Their are the two roles of Ben and Gus. I play  the role of Ben who is shown as the more intelligent one of the two and Gus is shown as a immature less educated person. I personally think that Ben  is  trying to think of the plan in a professorial way and try's to ignore the distraction of Gus, even though Gus gets on  his nerves Ben has that side of him where he feels sorry for him knowing that Gus is not that educated. Between the two characters we try to show Ben has the father figure, and we show this by the way he commands Gus  and tells him what to do. i also see Ben has a grumpy person and this shown in the way he will speak and how he reacts to everything Gus says. The way we show the intelligence levels of the two characters, Ben who is shown has a mature man and having  average intelligence  is reading a newspaper  and trying not to lose his temper with Gus also trying not to get on the same level has Gus. To show that Gus  has low intelligence and is very immature he jumps around acting childish and is playing on a game which shows he can get easily bored. even though both characters are shown as unprofessional hit-man they dress as they are ready to do a job by wearing smart clothes e.g shirt, trousers and tie,Which also represents that even though they aren't the smartest of people they no when their is a job to be done and how to dress for the occasion. To show the relationship between the characters throughout the duologue the levels  change  e.g at one point everything will be calm and the next Ben will be shouting at Gus for saying something completely out of context.
